    Poem Commentary

This is from an older collection of poems of mine. They are simple but heartfelt. This is for anyone who has ever been afraid to say those three little words....

    The Wonder of Love

    Stars in my eyes

    And warmth in my heart

    Aching inside

    Whenever we part

    Thoughts of the future

    Dreams of the past

    Unspoken questions

    Left better unasked

    Worries and fears

Worn as close as my clothes

    Hide them away

And take life as it goes.

    Heart on my sleeve

And the words in my head

    My only escape

    Dreamless sleep in my bed

    Wishing and hoping

    he feels the same way

    Thank God for this love

    on my worry filled days

jennie, See.. when you get to be 60 like me you're kind of glad you don't have to play those games any more. Heck, I don't chase women any more because, at my age, even if I caught one I probably wouldn't remember what to do with it! hehe (OK, OK.. she's not an "it", but that sounds funnier... I claim poetic license). However, love can also have a slightly more painful side, as I point out in this little poem: http://www.originalpoetry.com/the-moon_12 jennie, I hope you find your soulmate out there. In the meantime, be careful who you give your heart to.

I don't know much about games. I put myself out there with honesty and directness. But I will hold back a little sometimes because I do know that not everyone wears their heart on their sleeve like I do. I risk, I fall, I break, I pick up the pieces and start all over it again. Love is painful. But when I find my soulmate, it will have been well worth the journey.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
