    This is not forever

The mantra sounding in my head
Pushing me further in to life
When all i want to do is lay down and die
The harsh words beating against me
So i repeat the line over and over
Wading through the waters of self doubt
Holding back the hate threatens to bubble over
The pain pounding in my chest
    Closing up my throat
    Finding sweet release
With the bite of the blade
    In the arms of passion
    Blocking out the betrayal
    The looks, the sounds
    Falling in to rapture
    Calling out for torture
    Anything but this!!!
    Yes slowly I trudge on
    Going through the motions
Of life or something like it
Bitter tears wash down my cheeks
Searching for one lover after another
Yet nothing saves my like my sacred words
They carry me though her hate
Out of the cold and dread of her rule
    For
    This is not forever
And one day I will break free
    Or simply die

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
