    U & I

You said, “You're going to make someone very lucky some day.”

You have no idea how much I wish that that someone would be you.

Girl or guy, I can’t lie, I want you, some how, some way.

    We, together, just us two.

My mind races, bursts of energy and endless times.

Turn out the lights on my thoughts; you should see what comes to life.

My dreams, they are filled with your voice and your presence, our excitement, oh how it chimes.

To fight for you, it’s worth the tiresome strife.

We’re both frenzied, and full of angst, just a boy and girl.

We know it’s not for nothing at all.

You are my own precious pearl,

Beautiful to the touch, and to the eye of the beholder, the endless fantasy call.

There’s fire when we touch, but smoke when I turn on the light.

The fire that is there, yes, it burns so bright.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
