    What a Change?

Why is it so easy, to appreciate and admire an achiever
One who is giving all to pursue her dreams ‘from afar?’
Only to have them close and begin to shiver

Why does it then, suddenly becomes difficult
To still feel the same way about the admired
When we finally get involved (romantic) with them?

Why, do we become threatened and insecure?
When we find them making greater progress beside us,
And also have admirers, admiring them like we once did?

Why does it suddenly become difficult?
To keep encouraging, and urging them on
Now that they have become our lover/spouse?

Why do people become angered and sometimes quit?
When they see how much impact and progress being made
Alongside the fame this achiever now commands?

Why do we seem to be unable to get ourselves
To understand that growth, more commitment and time
Is required if that loved one must keep soaring?

Why does inability to understand change,
Cost us to tear apart a great friendship or union?
When all we need is just a little work to balance up!

Lust is great eagerness and enthusiasm,
    Like is having preference
But love is commitment, responsibility, sacrifice and unconditional.

    Don’t crave for that achiever
If can’t help her keep being that achiever you once admired
You can’t kill a lover’s passion and expect the best from them

Rita, thank you for your talent! This poem is phenomenal. I randomly chose poems to read on this site today & that randomness led me to your poem which describes my current situation (that's crazy!). Thanks again for writing & posting this! I tr

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
