    When I was a child

    when i was a child
    the pebbles under my feet
    caused no pain
and i was not aggravated by the wind

    the rain would fall
    and i would play
and the sun was never too hot

    the noise of traffic
did not pierce through my head
    and waiting in line
    was just something to do

    and love...
was in the palm of my hand

This is definitely a favorite of mine. You sum up hours of pondering the past in just a few lovely lines. Great stuff!

I watched the other day, a boy of three. He was walking next to his mom. then he looked up and asked, "Hold my hand?" His undersatnding mother asked softly, "You want to hold my hand?" "Yes," he replied contentedly, as he wormed it into her waiting warmth. It was summer, and life was just about perfect for him.

Nice - very descriptive of the younger years - well put together - short and to the point - plain and simple - I loved it... KD

    This is a beautiful poem.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
