Where has time gone

Poem Commentary

I'm sure this poem is pretty much self explained.  As all my friends know my poems come from my heart and true experiences.  My oldest child, my daughter has just turned 16.  Now I start questioning myself and if I have taught her enough to enter the real world.  She is so ready to grow up and do her own thing.....I just want her to slow down and take it all in.

Where has time gone

Where has time gone...
It seems as only yesterday I held you in my arms.
So helpless and small, look at you now.

I think back to the times when you walked by my side.
Hand and hand we would walk the halls,
Taking baby steps so you wouldn't fall.

I love to think back to when you first called me mom,
Holding your blanky and sucking your thumb.
Oh my, Oh my where has the time gone.

Here you are almost full grown, ready to go out on your own.
I pray and hope that i've done good...
To teach you the things to carry you through,
the path one day soon you shall choose.

Oh how I'll miss the days when you need me the most.
But just remeber I'll never leave you out in the cold.
Your my baby, no matter how old you get.
I'll always love, so don't you forget...

No oceans, mountains, nor streets of gold;
Shall keep us apart, or seperate our souls.
Your only 16, though you think your 21...

I know I wasn't the perfect mom;
But I think I did good.
You're living proof what love can do.

My love for you is so so deep;
I would cross oceans if ever you're in need.
Just call me up and I'll be there.

Oh my, Oh my how time sure does fly.

Beautifully written expression of time and a mom's truest form of love for her 'baby'. I was involved right from the start and it embraced my heart all through to the end. Very enjoyable read. The only thing I'd mention, is there is an uncertain sorting of events. You've a beginning an end, then a middle and another beginning and end. Hmmm, I'd try and re-phrase this a bit. But such an 'opinion' shall not persuade me from a 10+***** rank from me! Very good poem!! Blessings to you! Zep

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
