    Who am I

There is nothing to special about me. You could describe me as a good man. I am the boy next door, everyone’s favorite son. I am the one who you want to bring home to meet mom and dad. I am standing tall at 6’1”. Some might say that I am athletic, even though my there is nothing about me that would give you that idea. I am a good looking man; although that is something that to this day I never really see.
I have never been any ones dream, or if I have I was too blind to see. I am the guy you think you want. I am the safe and easy choice, the one who goes along with the flow of things and never really pushes the envelope. I am the four letter word that no one wants to be called. I am the friend. I am the one who you could be happy with for an eternity, but could not be in love with. I am loyal to a fault. That is something that has been instilled in me from an early age. It is the voice of my father telling me to never give up, to see things through and believe in yourself.
I have many scars inner and outer from the road that I have traveled so many years. They are only a reflection of my journey. They help me to realize that I am alive. There were times along my path that I have felt invincible, even through the hurts and the pain. Life has a funny way of changing us, or do we truly ever change? Am I still that person, or have I become something new entirely? Who am I? That question is yet to be discovered. I must continue the journey in order to find those answers.
I have stumbled and fallen and have been battered and bruised. Yet each time that I have been knocked down I have dusted myself off and continued on. The journey is not over and continues to carry me onward. My feet are moving but I can’t help but feel as though I am standing still. There are things that I don’t know how to move past. They are the stumbling blocks that seem insurmountable.
People move past me, like flashes of light though I do not see their faces. My vision is only able to focus on the situation at hand. I am lost in translation of myself. Who am I? I am a shadow, a vision, a dream, a wish that never came true. I am all things hoped for, and the disappointment of reality. That is who I am!

I LOVE YOUR POEMS, SO SOUL SEARCHING AND TRUE

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
