Who is a Hero?

Who is a Hero?

A HERO is the man or the woman, whose loyalty surely is true
To the ideals of their country, with hearts red, white and blue.

A HERO sets aside his own safety and the comforts of daily life,
He is there to bravely defend us in times of crisis or strife.

A HERO cannot see himself, brave and courageous as we do
He is focused on his task, he is steadfast through and through.

A HERO will serve our blessed America on the sea, in the air or on land,
He is there to protect our interests whether in snowy mountains or the dry
desert sand.

A HERO'S job may go unnoticed, he may blend into the fighting crowd,
But his praises all of us will sing, of him we are all so proud.

A HERO'S family will wait so patiently, some days in anxious fear,
That word from him may be seldom, for good news they want to hear.

But, unseen, camped round about him, are Angels sent from above,
From the God he has served since childhood, who protects him with heavenly
Love.

For in God's hand, this HERO is safe from all dangers and peril of sword,
For the steps of this precious soldier, are ordered of our Lord.

You will come home again with such memories, and tell us of sights you have
seen
We will welcome you home with great joy, and hear of the place you have
been.

Our place you have taken, we thank you, our freedom comes with such a high
cost,
Just as God gave His Son for redemption, to save the world which was lost.

Remember His love and salvation which goes with you day and night
Remember our country, America, her heritage is why you will fight.

Her honor will not be defeated, her anthems are sung by the just.
For we do not live in America, remember America lives in us.

So we thank you for defending our freedom and each one of us surely will
say,
Kind Soldier, you are truly our HERO, we will pray for you every day.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
