WILL I EVER KNOW?

WILL I EVER KNOW?

Today started out like any other day,

Our morning routine the same.

We sat together and ate then went our separate ways.

I sat and watched you until the school bus came.

then waved good-bye when you sat down.

Later this evening when the school bus came

To bring you back home again.

I was smiling from ear to ear eager to see your face.

And when the bus sped off after everyone but you had exited.

My blood began to race.

Why didn’t you get off the bus, where could you be?

I almost didn’t hear your friends asking me

why you didn’t come to school today.

When they asked were you sick

I didn’t know what to say.

If I had known that I would never see your face again,

or never hear your voice again,

or never get to hold you again,

I would never have let you go.

I want to be able to say I love you one more time.

What happened to you between home and school

Where did you go?

Why did you go?

Will I ever know?
