You Taught Me

You taught me more than...
Right from wrong,
Good from bad.
From you I learned...
Self respect, integrity
Compassion and love.
You taught me humility,
How to laugh...
And not take life so seriously.
To believe in myself,
My ideas and my dreams.
You set the example for me to follow.
You taught be to be proud of who I am,
WHere I came from,
And what I accomplish.
Regardless how little it may seem at the time.
Thank you for teaching me the value of life,
And the simplicity of happiness.
I will carry this knowledge with me forever.

Beautiful poem. The values that have been taught through the years will go with you. Having a role model in one's life is invaluable.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
