Oh God I have to ask you
Because I thought that we were friends
What the hell it is your thinking
Are you collecting for my sins

You’ve brought near by an angel
    The prettiest I’ve ever seen
Just far enough away from me
That I think Your being mean

Each step I take towards heaven
With all the baggage that I bring
It takes a step away from me
Like a carrot on a string

What is it that you want from me
    That merits all this pain
It’s harder every day I live
My heart has shown no gain

What the hell is it your thinking
To keep her from my reach
What lesson is there in this
What is it that you teach?

So Slim, have you stopped to imagine that maybe God wanted her to be with you, but she exercised her free will and said, "NO." At least, "Not yet?" Do you really think the way the world is heading, God has been getting His way all the time? Ease up. Good things happen when we aren't obsessed.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
