Never Again By You
I walk along the empty beach where once I ran with you.
It’s lonely as the sun goes down and leaves the sky once blue.
My world goes dark but I still hear the roar of the mighty sea.
I dream of when we used to dance and wonder where you’ld be.
I think of heading out right now in search of the waters end.
For in the waters off our coast my body I could send.
To pick my battles I have done but choices they weren’t great
So as I’ve fought my many wars I’m stuck with lousy fate.
It’s you I love and miss so much as heaven surely knows.
But I’ll never want you back again and that’s just how it goes.
I’d rather hurt just once for ever than over and over again.
.I know for me just where I’ve stood but not where you have been.
Love and trust are little words that mean so very much.
Now there gone and I look at you and shy from any touch.
This is where the sand grows cold as it meets my naked feet.
One thing I’ll always miss from you is that you brought the heat.
You’ve crushed my heart and broke it down then pulled it into two.
The damage is done forever hun, but never again by you.
