    A Moment in the rain

As tears from heaven fall from the sky I take a moment to breathe. Many conflicting thoughts flow through me like the gentle breeze which wraps my body and touches skin. I sit on the moist grass while they reach for the heavens to take a drink. I am alone but not by myself, and I smile at that thought.
“Savor the moment,” I hear my voice say from a corner deep within soul, I obey. Sorting the muddy images of my mind I pull one, a question to the divine. “What makes you weep, is it sorrow or joy?” A feeling comes to me that say it is both. An answer that is not quite satisfactory but the only I know I will get, so I feel content.
As the mud solidifies the images form tiles of thought laying the road that I will walk in this moment in time. My conflict of soul against its self begins to subside as the rain washes my aura clean. The blues and reds stained with black and charred grey slowly become translucent as the energy is absorbed into the earth. A smile creases my face and it is from neither joy nor sadness. Looking towards the orange horizon as the light fades to a dim glow I look above to find the mother’s watchful eye. She is not awake yet, so I stand.
Walking with my face towards the ground I feel the wind sweep my chin as to say, “keep your head up, the road is long but the way is clear.” Another smile forms. Then the cold seeps in and a chill rushes along my bones. “Still alone, but not by myself” the drifting phrase floats once more. One day soon, I am reminded, one day soon the rain will end and new life will come from the flood.
