Addiction

You use me, abuse me, all because you so smoothly
talked the sweet talk, mimicked a straight walk, lies that bought the salvation you sought, the fight I fought, with strings and clay you wrought
me, caught me in your web of disease, promises that brought me to my knees.

The idealogy of misunderstood psychology, your claim of sincere theology and incessant apology
tangled me, strangled me into submission, into deeper addiction to the pain.

I can't save me, you degrade me, parade me, a token prize, I refuse the lies in your eyes and part of me dies.

You cope with the dope, at the end of my rope, chasing hope.

I cry, sigh, why oh why do you keep getting high?
You hit another, I run for cover, overhead you hover, the addiction, your lover.
