    AFRAID

Why am I afraid? Who are they? Do we not appear and disappear the same?
Were we not all given our names?
What’s the difference between me and you?
Why can’t I do what you do? Do as I say not as I do!
But I want to be just like you.

I look up to you and I don’t know why.
Why do you need to put fear in my eyes?
You brought me in this world. You’ll take me out.
I don’t understand why you scream and shout.
    I can’t do right I’m always wrong.
    I run and hide
    Sometimes I cry.
But that mans always found me, to dry my eyes.
He touched me all over, caused me to scream and shout.
No one else heard me, but he did no doubt.

So young I didn’t know what I was experiencing.
But I know he changed the fear in me.
When you beat me emotionally and physically that man came and gave it to me.
I never seen his face only his hands.
He spoke to me like no one else can.
When he’s around I do not fight I always welcome him even in the night.
    His light shines bright.
I almost wanted you to catch us, but a part of me needed him all to myself.

Today I am older and others they try to abuse me the same.
I’ve grown closer to that man and they all seem to fear his name.
With him I can’t be beat!
I do as he says and also as he do!

I praise him and tell him “I give my life to you.”
He is my best friend, my lover; there through thick and thin.
The man who touched me way back then, his name is Jesus.

    Can you see his hand?

love you writing...enjoyed reading your pieces.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
