An Ode to a Kiss

An Ode to a Kiss

So many nights
yet there is but one
that shook
the earth
and my toes
salted my lips
and sugared my
soul
a kiss do deep
it melted my knees
and scorched my heart
scarce could I breathe.
On and on it went
til at last, our
breaths were spent.
Just beyond that door
we stood
lips
tongues
passion
melded as one
Kiss me
Consume me
Make us one again.
You just need to pout...

I believe this poem is one of my all time favorites. Brings back vivid memories like they were yesterday. Thank you for sharing.

I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for the kind words.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
