    Bred for life

    Woke up this morning
Got the kids fed and ready for school
    Went back upstairs
    Grabbed ahold of my life
And punched it in the face 95 times
Then went about getting off to work
And getting on with my day

    I'm a bad ass
    And like so many others
    It's a hard candy shell
    It's easy to forget
That it's soft in the middle

Wow, do I ever know how THAT feels!! Great write by a real woman who (I'll bet) is much sturdier than she says she feels. 10 for straight up honesty!

So is that why you stopped at 95? lol Loved the grit, and self revelation here. A veneer of faked sweetness is never as satisfying as that honey from the secreted store.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
