    Celebration for Summer Days

The summer days are long & light, full of fun
Smoke from bonfires on the beach & barbecues
    swirl in the wind
Smells of food & suntan oils permeate the air
Some bodies covered in hooded jackets, others covered in cloth & strings
A man by a fire plays guitar & sings
Children playing in sand up to their shoulder blades
pink from the sun that's just starting to fade...
Wet, sandy dogs shake on the sidewalk as
cyclists  whiz by faster than the cars
I cover my nose & mouth with my neck of my shirt,
the smoke burns my eyes, they start to hurt.
Summertime makes me more relaxed, away from the big city where we get so taxed...
Always wishing it would never end,  &  all fo my days i could spend,  listening to waves crash on the sand
smelling the ocean & all its trimmings
Watchin kites & wind socks sails through the air
Stay with us Summer,  keep us smiling, and carefree

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
