Contentment; A hard row to hoe

    Packing up all my belongings
and all that I hold dear
Not sure what Life's in store for me
But I know it isn't here

    Defending every choice I make
    To those it won't affect
    Too many people pulling strings
On a life that lies in check

    Extra effort rewarded with ridicule
    Incentive a fatal threat
    The epitome of misery
Spinning wheels rest deep in debt

Some men were born to stomp on dreams
    Casting stones on your desires
Keep private things so tightly bound
For it's gas upon thier fires

    Life becomes a shameful waste
When what you're living is not your own
    Your direction and priorities
    So tenderly you must hone

I've seized the reigns and left behind
All that's brought me grief or sorrow
Flirting with the hands of fate
In search of a brighter tomorrow.

Well written. This seems to be the fate of many today. Good luck in the changes you make. TS

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
