    Expectant Father

    I watch your body everyday
    And wonder as it grows
How magic such as this can be
    As our love just overflows

    Together we will soon receive
    The greatest gift of life
    Created solely from the love
Of a husband and a wife

    I can't help anticipating
I'll be half out of my mind
Especially when you say to me
"We better go, I think it's time"

When we rush to the hospital
and you're layed upon the table
I'll be right there to cheer you on
As long as I am able

As the tension mounts,we watch in awe
For what we've waited so long to see
If that darling little child of ours
Will be a "he" or "she"

It doesn't matter, boy or girl
We're still the Mom and Dad
Be it GI Joes ot Barbi Dolls
We'll both be just as glad

    I shan't forget what you've been through
Not one moment was in vain
The rewards that all will come with time
    Tend to override the pain

From the first time that you look at me
With our baby in your arms
Always know that I am loving you
And will protect you both from harm

And as you rock the baby fast to sleep
All those long and loving hours
Don't ever let it leave your mind
That THAT little child is ours.
