Desire

The world seems to stop as you walk by
All noises cease all voices die
Cant close my eyes for fear to see
The world without you close to me
Can barely breathe all thoughts are gone
I try not to stare, at least for too long
As you walk away my heart seems to follow
Goodbye my love, my beautiful sorrow

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
