Poem Commentary

in writing this poem i felt a strong connection to a girl i had met but did not have the courage to ask her out.

I Wish (desire)

Every time I wake up I feel The pain
And when I go to sleep I still feel the same
The pain of knowing this life without you
And if I had one wish I'd wish for you
I wish you were mine I wish for your love
And through out all time it would rise above
This hurting inside this pain that I feel
Each time that I find my dreams are not real
As you go to sleep I stay awake
Thinking of you and what it would take
For you to be mine my beautiful love
Your face like an angel sent from above
I wish you were mine
I wish you were mine

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
