Doors

When I first met you,
I thought you creepy
As I saw more and more of you
I found myself looking forward to seeing you
Then I realized it wouldn't work
So I turned my attention to him
You were never a second choice
He was the second choice
I soon gave into my heart's desire
I began flirting with you
Each day i didn't see you,
I dreamed about you
Then, I quit caring about what other people thought
I did what made me happy
The move I made was small
But, it opened doors
And because of those doors,
We have what we have today

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
