    DREAMS GIRLS DREAM

Sleep is overcoming me, I am excited.
There I am, long gown with a flowing train.
    Bejeweled crown atop my
    long blond hair.
I see the people applauding, their faces
    happy, adoration in their eyes.

My smile, so perfect, dimples deep,
Skin the color of ivory with cheeks
Of cherry and lips to match.

Little children riding on my train,
    holding my hand, pushing just
    to be near my beauty.
This land is like Oz, green and
    flowered, skies of cobalt blue.

The bell, who is ringing the bell?
I look to the left, then the right,
I see him, my brother, sound
    asleep, ignoring the alarm.
"Get up!" Mom yells, her voice rudely
    pulling me from my wonderland.

    Another day of school.
Another day of torn denims and
    Smelly tennis shoes.
I can't wait for the night when
I can go to my land and be
    The Princess once again.
