Earthquake
It shook and everyone left alive to tell was shaken
They gather in disbelief as if from a nightmare awaken
The rich, the poor, the young, the old, it didn’t discriminate
People with disbelieving stares and haunted eyes they can all relate
Oh mother nature why such cruelty, why such misery? Why?
Such great loss, such anguish, such suffering, makes us all want to cry
Parentless children, childless mothers praying to be rescued alive
To be saved from cold, dark, murky places, to once more thrive
Children crying for their mothers, scared, frighten alone and hurt,
People in untold pain and agony in fervent prayers wishing to be heard
Mercy extend, a hand please lend, it could have been me or you
These are our brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers you know what to do
Calamity comes when least expected, empathize, be helpful, lend a hand
It visits us in many shapes and forms, it is something never planned
Before nature’s fury, insignificant creatures we are rendered to be
The golden rule we have been taught, the big picture we need to see
