    Event Horizon

    On this mellow eve
    Let my body leave
This mortal world to swing and swirl
Among the stars and planets astride

    My dimming iris
    And hopes amiss
    Drive me through
    The infinite blue
Which calls my name to arrive

    So,
    With my spirit risen
    I come to event horizon
    Its hollow beauty
    And disturbing serenity
    Gives my trance
    A final chance

    For when I step into
    This dimension I barely knew
    The charms, the jolts
    Ecstasy’s thunder bolts
Race through this fallen body of mine

    With no turning back
    And nothing to lack
    I decide to dream on
    Be forever gone
As this carnal tomb goes numb and sublime

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
