I Dream of the Moon

Poem Commentary

I wrote this to describe the feeling of being in love, not knowing what is coming next.

I Dream of the Moon

Take my eyes, cover them in sunlight

Make the stars shine brightly inside

Have me focus on the ocean

Warm the waves as they crash on land

Take me where I’ve never seen day before

On our way to Tokyo

The moon eclipses my sight

I’ll make believe I enjoy the sun for now

Even though I dream of the moon

We walk the streets and wander to the gardens

You point in to the sky and say it’s time

I shoot the moon and make the sun bloom

The snowstorm on the moon fell in to my eyes

You tell me to rest as my eyes fill with rain

Now the moon sleeps in my eyes

They illuminate and smile down on you.
