I must move on

I must move on

Lying here in the dark, wishing you were here.
Your picture hangs on the wall to keep me company.
Days have past, seems like years, without a single word
The rain is falling, like lonely tears.
A shadow passes on the wall, But its only a memory.
Thoughts of day come and gone fade int the past.

I must move on and leave despair behind.
The horizon is looking brighter with each day.
Surrounded by friends, my heart shall mend.
I must move on, I must move on!

A constant reminder of us together is on every corner.
Suddenly there you are, visions of our love are there.
My heart breaks with each memory, then the rain.
Sorrow fills the air and a dark shadow cast upon me.
How can I forget the way you loved me for all those years?
Its embedded in me, the way you held me close.

I must move on let nothing stand in my way.
Only one more hill to climb, so ends my journey.
I hold my head high, no more stones on my path.
I must move on, I must move on!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
