I Remember!

I Remember!

With every breath I take
we grow farther apart.
The deepest love we hold
is only in our hearts.

If we only closed our eyes
and remembered the love we miss,
we can turn back time
to our very first kiss.

Remember the love
we saw in our eyes.
Happy to see eachother,
crying when we said goodbye.

Sticking by eachother
and showing that we cared.
Feeling the passion
that was in the air.

Feeling your touch
when your not around.
Knowing your always there
helps me smile not frown.

I can feel your grip
when you hold me tight.
I can see your smile
in the middle of the night.

I remember the way
you rubbed my face,
when I layed on your lap
and looked into space.

I saw in the stars
our names so bright,
and with that picture
I saw another sight.

It was of you and me
walking together,
holding hands
along the beach.

A tear came to my eye
but you wiped it away.
I wanted to cry
but you said it's okay.

I remember the time
you got on one knee,
looked into my eyes,
and asked "Will you marry me?"

I remember your face
when I said yes.
You picked me up
and gave me a kiss.

All these memories
are so clear to me.
It's like a dream
or the perfect recipe.

Why there fading away
I do not know.
It's hard for me to say
"Sweetie I have to go."

I promise you
I will be back.
This I have to do,
but your love I won't lack.

I will think of you
when I can't sleep at night.
Remember the way
you held me tight.

Baby please promise me
that you will wait,
and meet me when
you have reached the gate.

My last breath has been taken
as I look at you
and you say to me
" My Darling..I LOVE YOU!"

Damn that was some heavy stuff. A lot of emotion in this. Sounds you are still having some issues and I hope they can get resolved and everything will be ok for you and your husband. This made me reflect about things in the past, very sad stuff.

I wrote this poem from my moms perspective after she got diagnosed with cancer. She loved this poem and I thought I would share it with you. I am glad that you liked it and I am glad to say that it is not about me and my husband.

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
