    It's Me

Smile for the camera, and I pose
My expression caught on paper, time frozen
Lips so perfect, like a delicate rose
I put on a show for the flashing lights
My frown masked by satisfaction of the audience
Walk down the runway, energy takes flight
I look into the mirror of the world
He tells me to loosen up, open my blouse
    No longer daddy's little girl
For the glamor, it's all for the fame
    Diamond necklaces and shopping spree
The real has taken over, no shame
I apply red lipstick for this next shot
He says kiss him, put your arms around him
Pour me another drink so I can feel hott
My dignity has went down the drain
Along with my values, my judgments impaired
I stand alone underneath this black rain
They say the camera loves me
My face on every men magazine, it's me
Money is everything, this so true

Expressing yourself with words is easy to do, but what you went through was not so good. You know what they said about getting out now while you can, so good luck.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
