Joy in The Moment

Joy in The Moment

Plan that as we may

Each and every day

To partake of the future to come

With the next rise of the sun…

Would it not serve us well

As we find joy in the moment  --

In the moment that we share

A cup of coffee  --

Ride the roller-coaster

With a child  --

Watch the lines

In the face of an elder

Turn into waves of happiness

Across the brow  --

Feel the fingers of a child wrap

Around your hand  --

Hear the echo of a term

Of endearment  --

Walk a mile on the beach

With a friend  --

Wipe away a tear

Created by happiness  --

Stop to share

A word with a homeless person

Take a nap and awaken

To the smile of your lover  --…

What more could we ask of life

Than to find joy in the moment

As if it were our last  --

For yet today will become

Our past...©

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
