    Poem Commentary

Imagination and the river reveal the truth about nature as they are woven together...The soul becomes the recipient of the wealth of nature as it is freely shared...Juanita Pittman-Brown

    The River and Me...

When I am on the river

    There I find myself  --

It is there I find the peace

That I seek from day to day  --

When I am on the river

    There I find moments

    Alone with my thoughts

As the river and I become one

    On my way  --

    Challenges inspire me

    Within rushing waters  --

It is there I seek the depth of my soul  --

It is there fulfillment I come to know  --

    Some will never know

What the river and I share  --

    They will never understand

    What the water and wind

Bring to my soul there  --

    Yes there is solitude

    As I roam the waters

    That make their way

    Over rocks and solid mass

    Made of sand and clay…

    It is on the river

    That I find fulfillment

On this side of eternity  --

It is here I find for certain

Most of all that I am free…©
