    Just be me

    Somehow was born convicted.
    And sentenced to doing time.
For being just the way I am.
And didn't once commit a crime.

    They'd say I was pathetic.
And that I was a disgrace.
    Minding my own business.
Someone punched me in the face.

The last one chosen for the team.
    As if I really cared.
    And always getting teased.
Cause of the way I wore my hair.

    Then hiding my emotions.
    I'd wander off to be.
    Alone I'd cry an ocean.
So the world could never see.

At last I'm done with school days.
    Yippee, Hooray, I'm free.
Maybe now those kids will all grow up.
And I can just be me.

Wonderfully written, capturing the way so many of us feel about our childhood. The saddest thing is that kids haven't changed but this world we live in has, so they have only become much crueler. Words from childhood last a lifetime. Kids needs caring adults in their live, letting them know that all the crap they hear in school isn't what it's all about, they have worth and value. I find the more rejected kids felt in school is often times a symptom of the fact that they have so much wonderful stuff inside. To the degree they were ostrisized is the degree of wonderment inside them!!!

Thank you again for the wonderful compliment. School wasn't a very good time for me.

I agree with milkman. school right now for me is a living hell. few times is it at the most, in the middle. for a reason i dont know why, most kids seem to hate me.

school days.....gloriois for some and absolute hell for others....it always amazes me that the ones who are having the glorious time are either oblivious to or are the protagonist of the others hell....why must they demean others to feel successful.....why is this human flaw so prevelent

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
