    Mr. Sandman (Insomnia Pt.2)

Why do you taunt me so
My eyes are heavy but refuse to close
    Let me rest in peace
Consumption of this liquid keeps me wide awake
Set me free of this eerie trance
The sand you provide does not burn my eyes
You only appear to be good
Keeping my salvation just out of reach
I feel drained of all energy
    Please let me sleep

These late nights claim their toll
The price I pay increases daily
Mr. Sandman please let me sleep
Even if I am cursed to an eternal slumber
    Sand never looked so tasty
You refuse to accept my bribes
Plies of green stand at your feet
    Don't laugh at me
    Desperate i may be
I only wish to feel relieved of this agony

    Tick..Tock..Tick..Tock
    Time passes by slower still
Still no sign of giving in
    Too weak to use force
    Feeling tired but wide awake
    Slaughter the obnoxious sheep
    They provide no comfort
Mr. Sandman, please lend me your dirty hands
Become the key to the gates
    I want to enter Dreamland

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
