    Poem Commentary

This was written to my great-grandmother. She was my whole world. She was the mother I never had. I love her and miss her dearly! <3

    My Angel on Earth

You held life in the palm of your hand.

You always put your cold toes in the warm sand.

You always listened when I needed to talk.

You were there when I was born & the first time I walked.

You held my hand when I was scared, and said that you would always be there.

You taught me how to love with my heart and not my mind.

When you hugged me I knew everything was going to be fine.

You taught me to love everyone good and bad.

You always knew what to say when I was sad.

When I got hurt I was glad

because I knew I always had you to comfort me.

Now you are gone to live eternally.

With no pain, hunger, or sadness.

Which fills my heart with gladness.

Because I know that everything you've done for me,

God Almighty is now doing for you.

    So live happy, love heart-filled.

For now all the love you brought to the earth in the palm your hand is now being fulfilled....I love you Mammy

Your loss is expressed in your words. I am truly sorry for your loss. How ever as you have said she has been called home. Her new assignment is to watch over you and protect you. The presents which can not be seen, But you feel it just the same. Hence your other poem Ghost? That is way poetry is important, Because it helps heal the pain. Thank you for your gift.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
