    My Gift and My Curse

Who am I, at least this I’ll say,

I’m the one that takes all your pain away.

The one who helps you pray, and find a brighter day.

I take on your hurt, and make it mine,

To keep in my heart until the end of time.

But why on this earth would anyone do such a thing?

It’s my honor and duty, to do for my king.

My gift is great so, please don’t envy

I been so hurt, but I know that I’ve helped plenty,

Find a love or a feeling that one couldn’t condone,

Never in this life to have one of my own.

See my gift and my curse, I’ll never forget,

That the times I shared with you were it.

Just time for my help, and time for your soul

To find what you needed to go and grow old,

My heart will help another, and this I see

My gift and my curse, the very best of me.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
