    NAME

    NAME

    As I do my rounds,

I hear that sweat voice calling my name,

    Who could it be?

But she asks me what her name was?

So I just walked away with a smile on my face,

Didn’t say a thing I couldn’t believe what did she see in me,

Could it be that she is just a kid,

She is curious how tall I am or could it be,

She wanted more than just a face,

I was just trying to hold her hand but I stay away,

I was afraid because I have no game,

I guess it was something I said,

I am here writing to you every other day,

I am not calling u by your name and were still friends.

At the end the shortening of "you" as "u" looks like a text message. Try to write out your words so they have a greater effect.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
