Nervous wreck

She seen the open road to love, thinking she could drive, speeding off to happiness, gonna do or die, no heed to any warning , no sign of slowing down, burning youthful passion, and a bridge to her home town, The road of love is always winding. she was learning how to drive, she was off to find real happiness, racing on to paradise Her road was paved with promises, Her heart had placed a bet, to soon her road had narrowed , and she became a nervous wreck oh the highways and the byways , the pitfall and the snare, standing there beside herself, to late in life to care, her highway now is closing, no one left in town, and the pieces of a nervous wreck, must finally settle down, the road of love is always open, sometimes with a wretched toll, to soon her road had detoured, sending back a lonely soul, now beside the road she’s waving, watching true love pass her by, and the pieces of a nervous wreck , are brushed off to the side, N.Taulbee (c) 2006

This poem made me really THINK. It touched me, too, and I felt the sadness, the loss, the missed tomorrows that it represented. I think we can all relate to this. Great job!

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
