    raindrops

    Serenades and cantatas
    joyful in their lilting cadence
    soar with birds and butterflies
rhythms beat out softly on invisible drums
thumping at the heart and soul
    fleeting notes joyfully wake
the slumbering minds who wish on stars
    dreaming of dancing and swaying
like leaves in trees and wafting winds
summer waits her turn to shine forth
and enviously tries to display her melodies
as clouds and rain beat a tempo
i have only heard deep in my soul

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
