    Rescue Me

    Rescue me
From the pain and hurt you cause
Force me to endure in your glazed silent stare

    Free me
From the verbal assault you calmly think of inflicting
Through lips that smile at my goals and dreams

    Offer salvation
    From the rage you suppress
And express in a single caring glance

    Remove me
    From the violent arm
That moves to hug my waist

Rescue the damsel I never was
Who loves fiercely the warrior you pretend to be
End the drawing of the sword to maim my heart
    And break me down
    While swiping my tears away

Kill the dragon who lives in your heart but
Don’t tell me you love me
I find no comfort in those soft words laced with hate

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
