    Red

    Deep,
    Abyssal,
    forever spanning on
It looms over all, shifting pose; the illusion that it's gone,
Rebellious it stirs a deep courage within us all,
Yet it also smolders angrily in an eternal fire,
    that answers hatred's call,
Above you it lounges loftily among the crashing sun,
Swirling gracefully in a swirling dance of colors,
Its eyes slide slowly shut in inevitable exhaustion,
    Warm and loving

Red grips me tight in its secure arms, terminating every tremor

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
