Runaway

Runaway

On a panic, wreaking havoc

Without a cause, he marches on

One and lonely soldier marches to and fro

And in an instant, strikes his blow

Deep impressions from a time before

When more of them stuck distant shores

Again it happens, and then once again

There is no escape when it is happening; no escape

When you panic, it is much too late

For an icy rogue has sealed your fate

And when you look up into his eyes

Do not be surprised

For it is known, it is all he knows

But no one ever suspects the blow

And all you know

Will be no more

The sun set slowly; one and only

What will become of his icy son?

Maybe a brother will brighten up the king.

And a double vision brings binary dreams

Deep impressions from a time before

When more of them stuck distant shores

Again it happens, and then once again

There is no escape when it is happening

Cosmic intervention lends a mighty hand

Diverting certain turmoil

Allowed to carry on

Carry on

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
