Set Up For A Fall

Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you Son,
Locked behind those bars, while still so young,
It doesn’t seem right and it can’t be fair
They sentenced us all by putting you there…
They took away your freedom,
For a crime never done,
Now for their deceitfulness, your time has just begun.
Young as you are, you must now pay the price.
It breaks my heart knowing what you now face
I pray for the day you are released from that place.
The root of the problem was the company that you kept,
Being out in the night while the rest of us slept.
You were easy for them to talk you into their trap,
Not knowing that you were being set up
To take the County’s rap…

You were given a chance, to a youth camp you went,
I was hoping that would be time well spent.
But when you came home, you met with them again,
Now look at the trouble you’ve got yourself in…
I remember your younger days, teaching you right from wrong,
Always telling you never to be weak, and to always be strong.
Your manners were perfect, they said so at school,
The girls all adored you and thought you were cool…
But it’s never to late, I know this time you’ve learned,
Like a new leaf, it is you who has turned.
A new life awaits you, with people who care,
We love you and need you and will always be there…

I like this poem...my cousin has been in jail for most of his life because he was hanging with the wrong crowd. He has learned his lesson and we have been there with him the whole time to help get him through these dark days.

Support is a BIG thing...Letters are even BIGGER to someone in prison...Trust me...

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.

Plato (BC 427-BC 347) Greek philosopher.
