    She's Gone

    She's Gone
    By Eduardo Acevedo Jr.

WHY IS IT THAT YOU ALWAYS END UP LOVING THE WRONG PERSON.
THINKing YOU HAVE A SPECIAL CONNECTION. And FEELing TO GIVE THEM YOUR PROTECTION,
KEEP THEM SAFE FROM ALL THE WRONG, BUT WRONG BEFALLS YOU IN HER ARMS.
SHE CHARMS YOUR HEART LIKE FLUTE PLAYERS AND YOU'RE THE SNAKE.
YOU THEN END UP IN A PLACE ALONE ONCE SHE'S GONE wishing to make your brain forget her imprinted face.
You go back try to trace the footsteps to this lonely cold embrace, but are met with nothing but a memory you wish to erase.
Something you wish you could place on the logs of a fireplace, and scorch those feelings into nothingness, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Rather You lay (lye) alone at home and think about the past.
The way she used to hold your hand the way she used to laugh.
The way she smiled when she would stare.
The feeling that you thought were there.
But then you start to figure out. That maybe, that kiss wasn't meant for your mouth.
Perhaps her mind was on another and you should have never loved her.
But now its' too late to slow your pace and far too late to win the race.
She beat you to the punch that day and told you, You will be replaced.
Said that you will be in pain and be all on your own.
Not literally but that's basically what you were told when she told you she was gone.

Wow...don't know whether to feel happy that she left bc you're better off or feel sad that it had to be that way. Either way, this is a good piece and i enjoyed reading it.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
