Solid Ground

Solid Ground

Scared and hiding in my own little corner
So afraid to come out and repeat the former
Still fixing and mending my broken heart
I was confused and didn't know where to start
It was then you came and showed me the light
But that was the source of all my fright
Despite my fear, I took your hand
Your breath blew away my pain like sand
You lifted me up to a place I've been before
Where happiness and joy are an open door
It was wonderful, being up so high
Regardless of whether or not it was a lie
But then your hand started losing it's grip
And I closed my eyes as I began to slip
For I knew what the end result would be
Another hard fall to the ground far beneath me
I waited for the pain that came with every fall
But I didn't feel anything, nothing at all
I opened my eyes and looked all around
And was surprised and amazed at what I had found
For there was nothing beneath me, but solid ground
