Rejected

Rejected

A single tear runs down my cheek

My heart is broken and weak

The path you chose was not mine

I wish you had given me a sign

She’s prettier, skinnier, and yours

My heart is crushed as hers sores

Blank stares, fake smiles, a shrug

Its all I can give when you act so smug

Exhaustion and pain surrounds me now

As I wonder, and try to figure out how

I want soft kisses, a tender caress

I miss you, and I’m such a mess

All I can do is watch and wait

Oh God, I detest this cruel fate

Alone I walk and alone I am

But no one ever gives a damn

Loneliness is surely the cruelest gift

Dear Serenity: I love the way U write a poem. It is realistic, filled with emotions and colored with sincerity. It drives down a compelling message on how it affects one human being when he or she was rejected. Congrats! Keep it up. Ross

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
