Poem Commentary

This is a factual Poem, that I wrote about my beginning to write poetry, under duress of the diagnosis schizophrenia, and time to spare with not being able to work, i was asked if i would like to join a creative writing class, being offered by the then psychiatric services, under occupational therapy. I hope you enjoyed the read.

Take it One Step at a Time

At home alone i dwell, with diagnosis, none too well.
Things to do i find, exercise for the mind.
Rhyming stories to tell, into poetry i slowly fell.
Coming out of my lonely shell, I must learn to spell.

A dictionary in the hand, answers begin to land.
The spelling that i need, my mind begins to feed.
Each word a little seed, my arsonal to create the read.
Creating sentence in each line, my poem`s got a spine.
The thought i can actully write, I hope to be that bright.
So it has come to light, I will try with all my might.
A psycological fight, to write something devine.
A poem to signe.

What would you like to read, I wonder and inspiration ponderr.
Something of interest indeed, an interesting lead.
A writing is no good, without the readers desire to read.
The poem would fall alone, as if silent groan.
Dropping like a stone, chills me to the bone.

Grammar the branch of language, linguistics.
Dealing with syntax, and morphology.
If i am mistaken, you have my apology.
Brings the poems lines, into social priority.
This rule applies, even metophorically.
I must learn to punctuate, properly.
Or the poem crashes, diabolically.

When to stop, pause, or start.
Punctuation, with it`s lovely art.
The poem is read, as it would have been said.
Coming to the end, no more words to blend.
It`s time to go, no more poem to show.
If you like poetry, well then have a go !

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
