Take My Heart

Poem Commentary

Inspired from a poem I wrote in 7th grade that upon reading now I hate so I completely transformed into something else while trying to keep the general meaning.

Take My Heart

Take my heart
the heart you've torn
the two halves tarnished from your scorn
shredded to bits that no longer fits
I don't want it anymore

Take my heart
the heart you stole
disabling my body and soul
I'm lost and dazed and you're unfazed
I don't want it anymore

Take my heart
the heart you crushed
my blood would rush whenever we touched
I fashioned love from beastly passion
I don't want it anymore

Where's your heart?
the heart you hide
the one I could never get inside
It's now clear you were never sincere
I don't want it anymore

Where's your heart?
the heart you screen
are you really just selfish and mean?
Their not the same, my heart and yours
I don't want either anymore.

This reads like a song, I can picture it put to music! Great poem.

Thank you. I thought so too!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
