Poem Commentary

This and the next few poems I will be uploading are poems I wrote when my son was less than 2 years old. My wife worked a third shift job leaving me to spend the nights with my new son.

The Best Things

I’ve never been much
A mechanic and such
Never understood it, unless it had wheels.
Done a lot of dirty jobs just for the meals.
Money’s such a hard thing
Had a little bt but it never made me sing
It’s a living or so they say
but,They never have to pay
Money is just a game
I never learned to play too well
But it’s all just the same
Having too much would put me in hell
The only dear things in life
I’ve found are my son and my wife

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
