The Haunting

December 5th, 2007
Written By: Henry Van Olviline

I watch you in the distance
look upon my light
I speak but not a sound
please don't cry out in fright

I see the times change
your one of many who have laid down
in this room that was once mine
my feet no longer touch the ground

You feel my energy upon you
some days more than others
You may see me or you don't
but my spirit remains to hover

The thumps that wake you up
the strange figures that linger and remain
It is only me
please don't yell in disdain

I am only here to watch and
to replay my life again
please don't give me another thought
only I remember when

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
